ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA: For the third year in a row, the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) was chosen by its peers as the recipient of the Niche Innovation Award. Given during the annual Niche User Group Conference, the Niche Innovation Award recognizes police agencies and individuals that embody the best use of NicheRMS™ for executing either operational or administrative duties.

“We are thrilled to acknowledge the Halton Regional Police Service with the Niche Innovation Award,” said Alan Stauch, Niche Technology North American Customer Support Director. “The HRPS exemplifies innovation with the ways they use NicheRMS to increase efficiencies within their organization.”

The HRPS leverages organizational NicheRMS data and analytical expertise in an ongoing campaign targeting impaired driving, and to reimagine what it means to conduct impaired enforcement.

Using NicheRMS data, the HRPS:

  • Produces a series of reports and analytical products for each level of the organization, including bi-weekly performance reports that detail individual and unit contribution
  • Provides Supervisors guidance on who should be designated for impaired duty based on historic activity patterns
  • Produces summary reports for Commanders that outline district performance and recommendations on how best to allocate and deploy resources to make their efforts most effective

Driving all of this activity is a fundamental focus on measurement, analysis and data-driven decision making, powered by NicheRMS. By making analysis a central pillar of all of these efforts, the HRPS demonstrates how its internal systems influence its success and enables the agency to improve business practices, resulting in maximized operational and administrative effectiveness.

“The Halton Regional Police Service is continually improving how we collect, analyze, and utilize information resources in operational decision making,” said Halton Regional Police Service Inspector Derek Davis. “From impaired driving to mitigating areas elevated risk in the community, we are increasingly using information in effective and innovative ways that helps us ensure the safety and well-being of Halton Region’s 550,000 residents.”
